Nova project returns? Not exactly but it should feel like old home week with the return of the prodigal violinist (and friend of the show), Ken Sugita of the French National Orchestra. Ken will be stateside to present some concerts with his long-time colaborator, guitarist/composer Anthony Glise for the aptly named Sugita/Glise Duo. The pair is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Lincoln center debut and guess who’s along for the ride?
JR himself has been invited along as a guest to perform the “Missouri Fables” (see below) on an already excellent program. The last time the trio was together was for their last european tour as The Nova Project. “It was a great time traveling with these guys, riding the german autobahn and blasting prog rock.” says Riley. “I remember we had this concert in Ulm (birthplace of Einstein) and they fed us some buffalo chicken wings. This delicacy must have been brand new to the area as they were very excited to be able to present them to us. Those were the fanciest chicken wings I ever ‘et!”
Sugita/Glise Duo will perform…
April 11 – Columbia, Missouri
April 12 – St. Joseph, Missouri
April 13 – Kansas City, Missouri
Whatever they taught you in history class was dead wrong. This book contains the true history of the great state of Missouri as told by her residents —
some alive, some dead, some human.
If you’re like most people, you’ve often won- dered about setting traps for bear — Jesse James’ last thoughts — socialist gardening — flying cows and… just who was it that originally invented roses? Of course you’ve wondered about all these things!
Who hasn’t?
Finally, the answers to all these, and many more questions, have been answered by the American- born (and Missouri-born) classical guitarist, composer and author Anthony Glise.
The Missouri Fables offer a whimsical, magical glimpse into the soul of the state which has been home to Scott Joplin, Eugene Field, Thomas Hart Benton, Joseph Pulitzer, Jesse James, Harry Truman, George Washington Carver, the Pony Express and the great American satirist, Mark Twain.

Great Arts Fund Drive this week. Thanks to all who support the arts in their communities. Our guy got to spin the raffle wheel and is now sporting a very handsome KC Royals Chapeau .
Jazz X returns to Em Chammas this Saturday with the impeccably dangerous Bob Long (sax) at the engineer’s post.
Jason Riley proudly endorses Godin Guitars. After years of dedicated playing, our guy gets a nod from one of our favorite guitar makers.
Jason Riley’s Funky Folk Tour kicks off on April 23! See you on the road!
