After a month long inspection of this summer’s corn yield, Soca J returns to the home state for a week long run. Much like the show-me state herself, the band has a tough time when it comes to pledging it’s allegiance either north or south. Rest assured that these Rebels will find their glory in the pillage of ear drums, steel drums, all kinds of drums.
Wednesday night, SJ will kick off the Lathrop, MO Friendship Festival. This is one of our favorite events as the good people there bring us back year after year. I’ve honestly lost count of the number of appearances we’ve done there but since this is Soca’s 10 year anniversary, I’d have to go with 10 Friendship Festivals. Totally fitting, I think.
Thursday the boys will be in Independence (home of Harry S. Truman, maybe you’ve heard of him. He dropped the big one. Make that two big ones) for their summer concert series. Just our first time there. Better step it up, Independence. Birthplace of Presidents or no.
For the final weekend in July of ’12 we’ll return to our favorite lakeside destination in the Ozarks, Captain Ron’s. I propose you make the weekend of it with us. I’ll say it again… great staff, great location, great venue and the world’s best steel drum band. Ok… GREATEST steel drum band. Matinee shows on Saturday and Sunday.
